Between Ogres and Insects

Skonn charged at the Umber Hulk burying his greatsword, Frost Brand, into the beast. As he fought, he noticed a figure above the pit watching the fight.  As Balderpoor, Sorin, Arnogall and Aubrey began to move to help Skonn, the figure pulled a lever and an iron portcullis trapped Skonn and the Umber Hulk in the chamber.  The ogres Balderpoor had seen earlier appeared and attacked the party from the rear. 

The mighty Skonn beat down the half beetle half ape monstrosity and began to try and lift the portcullis so he could help his comrades.  They were finding the orges difficult to deal with and Balderpoor and Arnogall had been downed.  The mine tunnels were crowded with four projections of Aubrey but the orges were some how managing to hit the real Aubrey more often than not.  Skonn eventually gathered his strength and lifted the portcullis, joining the fight only to be struck down by the Ogre Captain.  

Monks armed with short bows began to fire on the party through the portcullis.  The situation looked grim until by sheer force of will, Skonn regained consciousness and began to exact revenge on the Ogre Captain.  As a last resort, Aubrey used his remaining lightening bolt spell on the same foe only to see it dodge and avoid the full force of his electric wrath.  One by one the Orges fell until the party were victorious.  

Balderpoor and Arnogall were healed but the party was spent and decided to retreat through the mines and rest in the nearby woods.  They left Balderpoor to reconnoitre the Temple of Black Earth below.  The druid shapeshifted into a mouse and scampered down the ancient dwavern made steps, finding himself at a narrow bridge, spanning a deep subterranean chasm.  He cautiously explored further coming across makeshift guardrooms, a barracks and a kitchen; making up a sort of broken home.  Scurrying through an arrow slit, he found a narrow ledge, which led around another part of the chasm.  At the end of the ledge he saw a lavishly decorated chamber, out of keeping with the rest of the complex.  Fearing he may revert back to his human form he returned to the party and reported back.

After resting for the remineder of the night, the party decided to return to the mines and explore the Temple beneath.  They hoped to find the leader of Black Earth, the medusa, Marlos Urnrayle.


TL;DR Skonn easily bested the Umber Hulk.  Three ogres appeared and proved more difficult with Skonn, Arnogall and Balderpoor being knocked unconscious at the same time.  After the battle the party retreated to rest leaving Balderpoor to explore the Temple below while shapeshifted as a mouse.

The Adventurers™ waited in the forest clearing for Arnogall to return from scouting the keep. They listened for any sounds of disturbance in the woods but heard nothing untoward. Hanging is too good for them

(Scroll for tl;dr) In Jeremy’s magic shop, Smiley noticed that his pet rat Mousey, was going berserk. Jeremy had been telling them about the Grove of Rebirth and that the druid there could bring people back from the dead. Smiley pulled the rodent from his pocket and Mousey escaped his grip.  He ran for the door behind the counter and started scratching it.  Mousey could sense the presence of gold.  Smiley went into the back room finding only a table, chair and heavy iron door.  Mousey ran towards the iron door and scratched at it so much that its claws were bleeding.  Jeremy was angry and drawing his longsword demanded Smiley return to the shop, which he did. The party noticed that Aubrey had put on a new hat and was now claiming to be a wizard.  They let him tag along as they had lacked a skilled magic user.  However, some in the party felt they still lacked a skilled magic user.  Leaving the shop they returned to Feathergale Spire, picked up some fresh Hippogriffs and set off f

Dark Dealings in Yartar

(Scroll for tl;dr) As they continued  their river cruise, The Adventurers™ searched the boat finding it had a cargo hold containing some rations, bed rolls and lots of rope.  They returned to the mysterious box on the deck and continued to examine it.  There was no obvious way to open it; its only notable feature was an inscription which read, “The more there is, the less you see.” Skonn suggested that they drag the box below deck where it was darker.  Once there the box opened and inside they found a vial of dark liquid suspected to be poison, a letter and a scrap of paper with instructions for the magic bowl they found on the pirate captain.  The letter contained orders to buy the lost orb, described as a deverstation orb, from the Hand of Yartar.  The letter also spoke of hidden treasure, should additional gold be needed.  The treasure was rumoured to be hidden under the long ruined Wrath Keep, about 80 miles to the north of Yartar.  Any treasure seekers were directed to the to
